I guess this might take awhile. (And the Captcha verifications are a bit annoying) You can sign up and the captchas go away...

Like say the guy with the #1 pick decided to trade it for a second and third round pick or something. I'm not going to allow that at this time. Since we are basically guinea pigs to see how well this actually goes, and we may run into unanticipated problems I want to keep it as simple as possible. Perhaps in another installment we can consider adding that element.

Anyone else still feel pretty confused about this? Please don't be shy about asking questions. I KNOW it is quite a lot to absorb, and I also am aware that sometimes I'm not the greatest at explaining things as clearly as is needed. If you are unsure about something, chances are you are not alone, but I can't try to clarify that which I do not know is a source of confusion.

if I take on a franchise that has a long term contract and that player does not get drafted, am I stuck with that player?. Correct. what if your system, for whatever reason, gets gutted in the draft? Is it basically too bad? You have to make due with no organizational depth, I guess? Also correct. Some teams may be left with 5 or more players, while others may have their entire BL squad drafted.

I have a question regarding the re-signing of free agents. so, say in the 3rd season of this that I have a free agent that is willing to re-sign but is demanding a 5-year deal. the rules ive read on the forum say I cannot re-sign him? is that correct? how will free agency work then in the later seasons of this? This rule accomplishes two things. First, it ensures that there are no back loaded contracts that have an impact on the next tourney. Second, it allows owners who are less payroll strapped to have a slight advantage the deeper into the tourney we get. So in your example, say his demands were 6Mx5, that's 30M. You could offer him a 10X3 deal and he will accept.

Will playoff wins count toward your 4 season win total? Or is it simply regular season records? (Im sure I knew the answer to this before.....sorry I forgot.) ONLY regular season wins count towards the Tournament standings.

Hey Michael. Any reason we chose 20 rounds rather than 25 which would equate to a full ML roster?

But if somebody is demanding $7MM/5, you can't sign him if we are going into the 5th and final season. Isn't that a big problem?

Also, are we having the big draft after or before budgets are set?

But if somebody is demanding $7MM/5, you can't sign him if we are going into the 5th and final season. Isn't that a big problem? That player is asking for $35M, so he should sign for a two year contract of 2 x 12.5M with a 10M bonus, and that would be allowed, as long as there is a team or mutual option included. Am I right mchales_army?

Hey Michael. Any reason we chose 20 rounds rather than 25 which would equate to a full ML roster? 2 reasons. Some owners may end up with several players undrafted. There will be a very deep FA pool to fill out the rest of your roster, if needed.

But if somebody is demanding $7MM/5, you can't sign him if we are going into the 5th and final season. Isn't that a big problem? There will be only 4 seasons. If, in the 4th and final season, someone is asking for those demands there are two options: Offer a two year deal worth 35M with a team or mutual option attached. Also, if you wait until the 3 PM cycle after game 8 in ST, FA will sign for 1 season and will not lose ratings.

Also, are we having the big draft after or before budgets are set? We won't start the schedule until after the big draft takes place. Correct shobob. Additionally I will send out an updated franchise payroll analysis to every owner. This will include their drafted players as well as their un-drafted remaining players, but will not take into account any minor league players drafted or lost to the draft. So you should be able to take my # and just add any FA money you want to have to spend.

There will be a very deep FA pool to fill out the rest of your roster, if needed. I guess the first reason I settled on 20 was this: 9 position players (Everyday players) & 11 Pitchers (the minimum I feel comfortable with) The rest are fillers.

Interesting - so you want to choose a franchise that is decent but not great, otherwise it will be gutted. Or, maybe one with a very low payroll. Maybe maybe not. I mean there's a lot more strategy to choosing your franchise than simply "what draft spot do they have". LOTS of things to consider.

So, the first thing we should be doing (after getting the $25GC) is looking over all the current franchises to see which one best suites our needs. Will we be able to relocate these teams to a different ballpark ?

I have suggested before since it has been suggested we pick in 30min intervals then we should be able to put out a drafting schedule, so every owner will know when it's their time to choose. I only request that we take into consideration pacific time zone as well as eastern time zone. I certainly will not only post a draft schedule, but will send it out through sitemail. It is still a few weeks out before we can begin the Big Draft, by which time we will have a better handle on everything.

Will we be able to relocate these teams to a different ballpark ? After we complete the city draft we will have a mass realignment. Owners will all pull out and then re-enter into their correct slot and at that time they can select the city they chose in the draft.
