Please vote on how you think the Big Draft order should be determined:
1) keep it as is
2) totally reverse the big draft order from the city draft order
3) get a new randomly generated list from Mike

Please vote on how you think the Big Draft order should be determined: 1) keep it as is 2) totally reverse the big draft order from the city draft order 3) get a new randomly generated list from Mike I am not sure exactly what option 3 is. Do you mean we use the current city draft then randomly generate a new list for the player draft or we randomly generate a new list for the city draft then reverse the order for the player draft. If it is the later I would vote for #3 as I believe its the most fair , if its not that then I would vote for 2.

I say 3. I do think that there are likely conflicts of interest with all of these votes (mine included).

Sometimes when you read something you may have a different take until you actually begin to get your feet wet. Having a chance to really analyze things I am of the opinion that having the first city pick is huge and this is why. Its not just the ballpark that you are picking which you may have a personal preference, or also a working model of proven success. That alone is big. More importantly it is the franchise selection. The teams with bad contracts are the teams that most likely will get picked last and that is the luck of the draw. All great players and all value players are going to get picked up so its not about not getting someone good. Its about being left with the bad. Not only will you be stuck with them but you will be handcuffed on who you can take in mid rounds and that is when most drafts are won. Everyone will get great picks in rd 1 and 2. If all the cheap studs are gone you may not be able to afford the high $ CY or MVP candidates whereas the lower payroll teams can afford them. I think to get the first pick in the city franchise and then the Big draft may be too much to overcome for the bottom tier guys. I think the snake draft is fair but should be implemented with the Big draft so guys with bad payrolls can get first dibs on lower price studs. I think that is the most equitable solution. The amateur draft is important esp if you take college guys closer to ML level, but not nearly important as the Big Draft that can help here and now. I think the idea of the tourney is to create as much parity as possible and I'm afraid getting the top picks in the 2 most important drafts will create disparity. I wouldn't recommend we draw again because if you got a good spot you shouldn't lose it. I just think a lot of guys may have got the big draft and amateur draft confused and assumed the snake draft started immediately. In hindsight I think that is the fairest solution if we are truly seeking equal footing and want our skill levels as managers to shine bright vs having to much handed to you upfront. I obviously will vote for 2.

I vote 1 - keep as is, but give us a few days to review the teams so I can evaluate the city draft options.

And remember guys, the franchise you pick is tied to both the big draft order and the amateur draft order. So you can pick your franchise based on lowest payroll commitment, big draft order, amateur draft order, Al team, Nl team, which ballpark is available in that division etc. Top 10 big draft picks aren't necessarily the healthiest franchises. There's give and take with all of them. Bottom line is, the procedure was clearly spelled out on what was gonna happen. The franchises were in a nice tidy list showing payroll commitment, and both draft slots. The drafting time was even added in. The order was randomized. We all had equal shot at our desired spots. Should be no complaints.

Ok, I have had a terrible cold for a week and the cold meds must be effecting my thought process. I haven't even played any poker for 5 days. I read thru this a few times and thought I had it down, but apparently not. I for some reason thought it had changed from last season in that the city draft choice could move a franchise to his division spot via musical chairs giving him a double advantage. Now that the light bulb clicked again(thanks foulballz for the summation)I see that it is set up brilliantly , and it can't get any fairer, so I vote 1. Sorry for the confusion.

I think once we get into the draft we will probably see that there are pros and cons for every franchise. There are probably a handful of teams that are desirable on all fronts, but after that I imagine most of these franchises have some good things, some bad.
