if we just started season 1 and didn't have a draft, we'd still be inheriting teams that we didn't put together. To me that defeats the whole purpose of this. Starting season one is the same as starting season 10. Bad contracts and imbalances still exist. If I want to build an entire team of low contact, low speed left power hitters and put them in Tacoma to try to win all your games 1-0 on a solo HR, you can actually do that with this draft!

Do you think WIS is turned off by our BIG DRAFT request? Really, if we are starting as a new S1 world, and we make this 5 years, do we really need a special draft? I've never been in an S1 world. How evenly distributed is the talent, usually? I wouldn't say they are turned off, but it MIGHT present a challenge as RisingStar1 alluded to. To answer your last question the talent is poorly distributed. Not only that, but just about every team is going to have some bad contracts, some more than others. These are going to be like $4M over 3 years for a poor hitter for example. So while there will be no REALLY TERRIBLE contracts like $10M X 2 Yrs. for a 35 yr old Long Reliever, there is still a problem to deal with. What I am thinking will be the solution to this is, because there will be so many of them, we should distribute them as evenly as possible. It will take a bit of extra work but will be the best way to balance the junk. When we get the spreadsheet, assuming WIS can do that, we probably need to go through it looking for the bad contracts first thing. Then I will do my best to spread them out across all 32 teams, by total contract value.

I really do feel like ADMIN will get something done for us. Maybe just not as fast as I'd hoped.
I have just finished another merger. This time 3 worlds into 2. Evangeline, More Cowbell and Sandberg. They are all very happy about it.
I have another 3 into 2 that I am exploring. 2 of the worlds are a definite yes, and the third is still polling owners to see what kind of support they have. The 3 worlds have exactly enough owners for 2 worlds, so it would be fairly quick to organize, and I am getting pretty good at it...
Anyway if that happens then I will have personally merged 8 worlds into 5. That means if they add our world they will be at 2 less than they had at the end of October, and that would leave only one world out there with double digit openings. I think all of that would help our case that much more.

It appears that csherwood is pushing the alias thing with WIS.
I got a response from ADMIN finally and it reads as follows:
Dave,
We noticed quite a few alias accounts in the former Joey Belle world before we pulled them out and killed the world.
Can you explain?
Thanks
I responded truthfully with the following:
Yes.
As I said, filling a public world is counterproductive to our draft format. We would have had to eat that season. Basically a whole season wasted and not counting towards the tournament, because it would have started without us being able to conduct a draft. My owners have already committed to at least 4 seasons plus the $25 buy in, so I thought asking them to spend another $25 each just to secure a world was a bit much and suggested that they create alias accounts for this one wasted season.
If we were essentially buying a world from you in this manner I thought $800 was a bit steep, considering the money we are already committing to.
I don't know what the outcome will be but I just wanted to keep you all up to date.

I agree that there's no (good) reason to be anything but completely honest.
I'm less sure they'll understand, but it's still the way to go.

Their followup response:
Can you provide list of owners and how many HBD seasons each has played?
Thanks
Among a few reasons I chose to invite only owners with a substantial amount of experience for the first installment is I thought it made us a more attractive group to ADMIN.
10 of you have 95+ seasons under your belt. I am the rookie, with only 17. Only 7 of us with less than 30...
